Cooke House | Pittsburgh, Pa.

Pittsburgh Solar Home with Enphase MicroinvertersSolar is an integral part of the Cooke family’s urban homestead on the edge of Frick Park, from the home’s passive solar design to its 2.96-kW array with Enphase Microinverters.

The array, installed nearly two years ago by Standard Solar and Frequency Electric, is mounted on a ballasted racking system and nestled amid a roof garden.

The home includes rainwater harvesting and stormwater diversion; organic vegetable, herb and fruit production; shiitake cultivation; and composting. It’s an ideal setting for Maren Cooke’s Sustainability Salons, monthly discussions of environmental topics.
